Björk makes magic as much as she makes music. Because she is my major reference point for Iceland, I believe it is a land filled with woodland fairies who trail glitter in their wake and that the country is powered by geothermal energy. If you asked anyone to describe Björk’s style of music, he or she would stumble over a few music-criticky sounding, invented genre-blending words before remembering that she is literally an alien sent from another planet to bring us sounds and stories we’ve never heard. The best artists are always aliens.
